Jasper is the townsite for magnificent Jasper National Park. No trip to the Canadian Rockies is complete without exploring Jasper National Park. Lakes, hot springs, canyons and glaciers create the impressive natural offerings. Visit Maligne Lake and Canyon and cruise to Spirit Island. You are almost guaranteed to see wildlife, especially big horn sheep, elk and deer as you tour around Jasper.
Spend a warm sunny day watching chunks of ice carve off the glacier at Mt Edith Cavell. Travel just west of JNP to see the Rockies biggest peak - Mt Robson. Its a lot to pack into one day so 2 days minimum is recommended explore Jasper National Park.
If you are arriving in Jasper from the west, the Columbia Icefields are actually located in Jasper National Park on the the southbound drive to Lake Louise and Banff on the Icefields Parkway.
